Hobart - Salamanca Market

We only spent a day and night in Hobart before heading down the Tasman Peninsula to Port Arthur. We stopped off in Hobart for another day on the way back from Port Arthur to the west coast. While there, we went to the famous Salamanca Market and saw the historic docks area and the Hobart Botanical Gardens.

We even got to meet Senator Bob Brown at the markets... no photo unfortunately.

Gravestones placed into this wall after the former cemetary behind Salamanca Place was turned into a park. Some of these date back to the late 18th century.

Bandstand in the park behind Salamanca Place.

There are some interesting sculptures around the docks area in Hobart commemorating Abel Tasman. The old buildings in this part of town must be some of the oldest in Australia.
